Past Hula Shows and Festivals
In 2003 and 2004 HALAU HULA O NA MAUNA KOMOHANA presented the play LILI'UOKALANI, Hawai'i's last queen, written by Aldyth Morris,
Instructor and students interpolated hula and live music into the script, which told the story of the loss of the Hawaiian kingdom. Performances were held at The Chautauqua Community House and the main stage of The Dairy Center for the Arts.
The performers layered hula, chant and music into the parts of the script where appropriate. The event was sponsored by a grant from Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado.
